Nixon Library Musical Performance

 

Last night my daughter had her last professional musical performance at Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. It's a beautiful venue and the musicians played spectacular. If you visit Southern California this library and the grounds surrounding Richard Nixon's birthplace  is so beautiful and rich in our Presidential History.

This particular room which is an exact replica of the East Room at The White House has the most exquisite chandeliers.

Here is part of the percussion group that is in the Wind Ensemble.

Each musician had a beautiful red rose for their mothers.

The Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra received a GOLD rating at the Heritage Festival in Philadelphia this past week.

Here is my beautiful daughter with her fantastic music teacher, Mrs. Carnahan who every year takes the music students to Festivals around the country.  Madison's year they played at the prestigious Carniegie Hall in New York! She has taught my daughter to LOVE and appreciate music and I can't believe how much she has learned in just the 3 short years she has been in the program. It is bittersweet for me as she will be leaving the program in a couple of months as she moves on to High School, I do hope she continues to play the piano in our home. 

 
We are so proud of her and all of her accomplishments in Music. 

Off to New York, Philly and New Jersey

My youngest daughter is on a trip of a lifetime!  She is on a Music tour with her Middle School,  100 Students are touring some historic cities on the East Coast.  They landed in JFK this evening and are settling in for a whirlwind trip of sight seeing, Princeton Visits and playing their hearts out at the Music Festival.

Don't they look cute in their Music Sweatshirts?  The musicians are so excited as they have earned this tour and looked forward to it since they were in beginning band or orchestra in 6th grade.

Here she is with her roomies, all bright eyed and bushy tailed, early this morning at 6 am!  I'm sure she will have a grand time and come back with quite an experience.  Good LUCK East Whittier Middle School Music program, make us proud!

" Really, how old are you?"

Well...currently this is my favorite song!! I keep playing it over and over and over. So if you hear it and see a middle aged women in a white Volvo with the stereo cranked and her hands waving through the sun roof...don't mind her she is having a MID-LIFE crisis.  Anybody want to go to her concert when she comes to town?

Darling Husband plays the bongos?

This little boy playing the bongos reminds me of my darling husband....minus the bongos and insert a skateboard......Tara Whitney had this on her blog back in Febuary and I kept going to it everyday to listen to it, KROQ used to play it but I havne't heard it in awhile. I hope you enjoy it, on this beautiful Saturday morning, at least here in California it is. We are off to Soccer games this afternoon...
