I went to visit my friend the other day and I thought you'd like to come on the tour of her beautiful Nautical Home. We became friends when I started on my Breast Cancer Journey, she had found out that she had Breast Cancer a few months before I did and she was a great companion during my treatment. Recently, she joined Pinterest and I noticed we were pinning each other Pins on Pinterest and I also realized I was pinning images of her home. So one thing led to another and she invited me over for a tour and I was not disappointed and you won't be either on her beautiful Nautical decorated Home.
Her white wicker chairs compliment her ball and claw dining table in her dining room. I also was contemplating purchasing that exact chandelier for our family room area but decided we needed a fan in there not just a light fixture.
This is her living room, I love her use of different shades of blues in the space and the variety of wood tones in her furniture selection.
I have always loved stripes on furniture weather it be on a chair, on the sofa, on the rug or on a pillow, speaking of pillow...I'm in love with the shell pillow...it would be perfect on my Ikea Sofa in the Cottage on Cullen. She is very much like and me and loves lots of natural light streaming in her home. She has plantation shutters throughout her home and closes them when she needs some privacy.
Not only does Melinda have beautiful textiles in her home she has lots and lots of baskets!
Baskets full of shells, quilts or pillows. You know who is eyeballing that little book table? Me...in a perfect shade of robin's egg blue I don't think she'll realize that it was missing, would she?
Going into the guestroom, she has used lots of sea life in the space to decorate, a seahorse coverlet on the bed, the sea stars on the antique corbels and the octopus art on the wall. Stripes are found here too and I see a Navy Buffalo check pillow to add some variety to the bedding.
I love this shade of blue that is painted on the chest of drawers and the beaded round mirror.
A great built-in is in the hallway that leads into the family room but first lets check out the bathroom.
Her whole bathroom is all done in bead-board even the ceiling has it and look at her tumbled pebble floor.
But my favorite part of the bathroom is the photographs of her family in their old fashioned swimsuits at the shore.
Going into her family room it is a very cozy space with wall to wall carpeting and more bead-board walls with sea life prints and an oar resting on some jacket hooks.
This room has a shot of Azure Sea Blue on the wall with more vintage quilts and boats images and a modal boat too with her grandson's name on it.
Yes, I spy some World Market signage, "Go Jump in the Lake" is from one of my favorite stores.
This room has access to her pool area which you can see through the windows. I'm coveting this striped ottoman in navy and white stripes and look at those Chinese Vases, aren't they pretty? Let's not leave out that rustic table on wheels....
Off of the family room is a powder room and I want want want that medicine cabinet!!
Wasn't her home just oozing with Nautical goodness? I loved it and felt like we are like "two pearls in an oyster shell".....{well, I changed that quote a bit from "two peas in a pod"} but the sea reference fits us better. I hope you enjoyed her home as much as I did! I think she has great taste! Her and I are planning a tour next week of some really beautiful homes near Newport Beach. You'll not want to miss out if you'd like beach house as much as us...here is just a teaser.
Isn't she a beauty? This home is oozing with Beach Cottage goodness.
