Oh my, have I fell down the Bitmoji Rabbit Hole....HARD! Ever since we went into "shelter in place" last March I went online to scour the internet and learn everything I could learn about how to teach online. I have learned a lot! How to hook up my doc camera to my laptop, to creating Google Slides which then led me to creating a Bitmoji classroom and that's when I fell hard! I realized that the link and codes slide that I made for my students they could click on pictures to go to that link. I wanted my Bitmoji Classroom to replicate our real classroom. If my students were to actually come to my classroom the image above would be what our classroom would look like, for the most part. Almost each of the images is a link to something in our classroom. The books on the bookshelf lead to stories on SafeYOUTube. The musical notes link to Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwaol'e . The "H" to the University of Hawai'i fight song. The rainbow links to a online rainbow timer, that we use during our online distant learning recess/break. It was really fun to put together and I've created another one for our upcoming California Regions Unit.
I am a part of a Facebook Group called Bitmoji Craze for Educators and that's where so many of these ideas came from.
These are put on Google Slides and the students have access to information that they will need to add to their California Regions essay. If the click on either map above they will be learning a California Region song by the Mama and the Papa's, (an old 70's song) and to California Jones video.
This is the coastal regions slide, I have one for each of the 4 regions; coastal, mountain, desert, and central valley. On each slide their are links to animals that inhabit the regions, as well as plants, and general characteristics of each region. I hope that the students will enjoy this new way of discovering and learning about this California Regions Unit. I plan on doing one for our upcoming Natural Disasters Unit. Yes........I have fell down the rabbit hole!
