....the season is upon us once more...

I always ask myself...how is it that I have NO LIFE!!  It's all about the children, isn't it?  I used to Scrapbook   on Saturdays...sometimes with the SCRAPANOS ....now it's either the Softball Field, the Soccer Field or the Dance Floor......

the season is finally over...

My eldest daughter...{the athlete} has finally finished with her All Star Softball Games....they made it all the way to the State Championships in Lancaster,CA {yes where it is incredibly HOT}   There were 167 teams from all over the state that came to compete......

 

We played early on Friday morning...

 

the players exchanged gifts after the first game...we gave them good bags in our colors they gave us sweet candy leis...

 

after two games that day they have a parade where they introduce ALL 167 teams...you can dress up.  Some came looking like they where out of a Dr. Seuss book with hair piled up on top straight up in the air  {wish I took a picture} or dressed up for Mardi Gra with purple and green beads and masks or with inter-tubes around their waists and a mask and snorkel.  We did not know they did this so our costumes were put together very last minute.  I had a bunch of Hawaiian Themed items leftover from the 5th Grade Picnic, another Mom said she had this Ribbon Lei Idea..so we went with it.

after the parade the girls got to trade pins with the other cities.  Our league didn't have pins to trade which was a shame, they loved this part of the parade.  If you didn't have pins you could of traded Candy, bead necklaces or glow sticks.  But I was such a dufus I forgot to give the girls there glow sticks I got at Target to pass out.  I was busying driving around looking for a Party City to buy Coconut Bras for the coaches to wear and when I got back I could not find a place to park so I forgot.   So the coaches got to wear the skirts only with no coconut bra, I think they were bummed {NOT!}...

Glad it is over......now on to................................................

The day is finally here!

...today is the first game of the season and this little Speed Demon is ready to CRUSH the Fruit Loops today.......I'll be back with a report. 

edit:  well we didn't crush the fruit loops but they didn't crush us either.   We played hard, Madison scored the first goal but we ended up losing 4 to 1.   First game we have lots to work on but I was proud of the girls.  (I'm the assistant coach on The Speed Demons).

Amazing!

Since I was little a little girl I have always been so entranced by the Olympic Gymnasts...I did Gymnastics on and off while growing up.  Even when I was in College I took Gymnastics as one of my electives...I loved it, really, really loved the sport.  I can still remember doing Aerials on my brick wall on the side of my house.  I fell a few times and got all scratched up all over my legs from the rough bricks.  I can also remember my cousin taking me to see the Russian gymnastics world tour circa 1970's. I was mesmerized as I am today watching the Gymnasts at the Beijing Olympics. But I am so mad at myself, I should of had that cup of coffee like Costas suggested....because I was trying so hard to stay up last night to watch the U.S. compete for the Gold in the Individual All Around....I started to nod off and missed it, I fell asleep.   I wish I had TIVO....so I could watch it this morning. Oh well...live and learn.

They are SO strong!  Making their bodies do things that are completely amazing.  The beam is my absolute favorite!!   Doing acrobatics..like three elements in a row on a piece of wood only several inches wide.  Is that mind boggling or what?

 Her story ..moving to a new country to get health care for her sick little boy.  That story was so moving. And at the age of 32 no less, competing with girls that are 16!  That is so amazing too!  You go girl!! 

Yes...that's where I have been every night from 8:00 P.M. until I fall asleep glued to the TV, watching our Amazing athletes break amazing records over and over again, performing amazing feats with the body and rooting for our  athletes as they represent our awesome country at the Beijing Olympics!!  What is your favorite sport to watch? I'd love to hear it.  You know what mine is.

Dirt Divas....did it.....tonight...they played an Awesome game....they were the fourth place team against the first place team...and they won...they played a great game...They go on to the Play-offs on Thursday.   Wish them luck...

The Annual Softball Bowling Tournament

This past Saturday Night...our "Girls" Softball league hosts a Parents Night out of Bowling...We have gone the last three years and have lots of fun going.  It is a nice get away for the parents and we get to know each other better off the softball field. Here are some highlights.

  There are prizes at this Bowling Night out...for the highest score, the most Turkeys and even the lowest score.  Last year I received the BIG L....

Loser, yep I had the lowest score...can you believe that?  I couldn't believe I had the lowest score. Anyhow..this Guy with the hat over there to the lef .has a broken thumb....well he beat me...his score was 31...mine was 64....so I wasn't the Big L this year...but...Holy tolitos...I didn't even have a broken thumb.  He is showing me his broken thumb in the picture.  What people will do to go bowling.......broken thumb and all.

both my girls play and my life gets a little more hectic this time of the year but I love watching them play and grow as an athelete.

I'm very competitive......

I'm very, very competitive....sometimes I wish I wasn't so much.  I'm especially compassionate about the sport of soccer.  It really runs through my veins.  Every since I took the field when my little brother signed up to play AYSO I went to his every practice...I don't know why my parents didn't sign me up. Maybe back in 1974, only boys where allowed to play.I just remember that I played with his team and I remember the coach saying we could but a cap on "her"  head, (meaning me)and play her as a boy.  Oh I would of done that in a hot second.  I loved playing against and with the boys.  Yes..some would say I was a tomboy...yep!! I was.  Then I do believe the next year I was put on a team and played several years after that. I also played JR Hight but at the High School level,we didn't have a girls soccer team.  I wanted to play so bad on the boys team at LMHS.  In retrospect I should of pushed it at my school and been a pioneer for all girls.  But you know you get to be so self conscience in HS.  Wish it wasn't so.  I wish I could go back and relive it and know now what I know. Later on when I moved to Kaua'i...I got to play again in a all women's Soccer league. Here is the picture of our soccer team in Hawai'i. Can you guess which player I am?       We came in first 3 years in a row and the last game I had a huge accident and was coming down the right side ready to "CENTER" it and the full back TOO ME OUT!!   yes..our legs intertwined and bam I heard a POP!  I thought for sure I could rest and get back into the game.  Well 3 doctors opinions later I had a torn meniscus.  And having played since.  So now I'm the lady below.Cheering up and down the sidelines while my two girls play.  Well...I think I look a li'l more psycho then her...but you get the idea....I love soccer and I love being.....................................................................a

Girl you make me proud!!!

When you were born...I had no idea what kind of person you would become...Would you be a quiet child and want to be a violinist, would you be loud and be the class clown and I would have many visits to the principals office?  You are going on 10 and in the last 9 plus years you have given me and your father so much JOY.  I especially LOVE to watch you play sports....you are a natural athlete. You take everything in and how a game is to be played and you excel!! You seem to love all sports..but yes...soccer is your favorite...that makes me happy...that was my sport...something I was and still am very passionate about it.  So you go girl....and Mama will be on the sidelines cheering you on....yes..she is proud of her girl!!!
