Flowers in the air or in a pot..I like a lot

 
Oh I'm a regular Dr. Seuss I am!  I do like Flowers here..I do like flowers there...I do love flowers everywhere, Gab I am!

 
 The Crape Myrtles are blooming like crazy...this one in hot pink, out by our sidewalk.

 
The lavender colored one is in our front garden bed and slowly it's buddies are disappearing next to it {Mr. Incredible is tearing out and cutting back the foliage in that bed} making room for his landscape redo {that is his thang}. I on the other hand...take care with my containers of plants and flowers...

 
The white geranium that sits under the lavender crape myrtle and this odd weed or plant....

 

I don't take care of, but he popped up and I think it is quite interesting, does anyone know what it is?  It almost looks like a purple pineapple...

 
Up on the porch near the front door is the succulent container...I find myself attracted to succulents these days....how about you?  So flowers are not the only ones in my heart. But up on the brick porch{my favorite spot to sip a glass of wine}  is  Picasso Supertunia, hanging on the left over there, see her?

 
And that thick HEDGE!! We'd like to pull that out and we or I'd like to plant a beautiful lush Nikko Hydrangea in it's place with some baby tears as ground cover and some more cottagy plants thrown in too.   Also those black wrought iron porch supports will be coming out too and in it's place some white-turned chunky pillars that I bought to replace the wrought iron ones.  I got them from The Brick Basement before we moved into the Cottage. I think they'll give the porch more beachy/farmhouse character....

 
Back to the hanging basket, I LOVE how healthy and colorful this Picasso Supertunia is but she stinks like doggie doodoo....when I water her.  Kind of funny huh?  Well not really if you are sitting on the Adirondack chair having a glass of wine....or washing dishes in the kitchen.  Pee Ew!!  Looking up at the ceiling, do you think I should paint her a soft pale blue?

Going around and up the driveway and sitting next to the kitchen side door, we have another potted {2} plants sitting on top of my milk jug {found at yard sale}.  I planted the purple flowers in my garden bed at my last house and I always plant Alyssum when I'm not planing Bacopa...for a trailing effect in a container.  The purple flowers are called Dwarf Cup Flower and I got them for a dollar on clearance at Lowes.

 
Walking back to the back of the driveway in the corner, we have a bright pink climbing rose bush...

 
Next to the Pink Climbing Rose bush is this Gardenia bush....Gardenias are my favorite flower, there is nothing better than the smell of a Gardenia in my book.  Dr. Seuess or other. 

 

We had two gardenia bushes but that was one that got pulled out in the front bed...:(   that was a sad day. 

 
Here is my favorite color of roses that I have..she is quite thorny but look at her color!!

 
The softest prettiest pink....she has bloomed constantly since we moved in and I'm always cutting her buds off to bring in the house.  One of my hydrangeas have just started to bloom so I'll have pictures up of her soon.  The other 3 I don't see a bud on them....maybe they need to be planted in the ground.  I have 6 hydrangeas plants now...does that count as a collection?

 
Now this is a cool idea...from Martha...using shipping tags {i got of ton of them from my scrapbooking days} just cut off the end piece and glue or staple to tag and put on a ring or ribbon so you have a record of the plant...so simple yet genious...How is your garden doing this time of the year?  Are you getting ready for fall?  Has the heat left it wilted in your garden or is doing good?  In California we don't get the four seasons like the rest of the country does. I mean we do get more rain in fall and spring and snow up in the mountains but mostly it stays pretty nice around here.  We are lucky that way..beautiful weather.

The purple stalk flower kind of looks like a blazing star flower. I just know them by that name, unsure of what it's technical (or latin) name is. :-)
